Medacta celebrates the 100th M.O.R.E. Shoulder Learning Center and 15,000 Medacta Shoulder System devices implanted worldwide

Medacta is proud to announce the completion of the 100th M.O.R.E. Shoulder Learning Center. Throughout the past 5 years, Medacta has hosted surgeons throughout Europe, the United States, and Japan for wetlabs and product discussions, giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about Medacta’s solutions for shoulder arthroplasty. This milestone further demonstrates Medacta’s dedication to medical education. By providing continuous support to healthcare professionals worldwide, Medacta aims to share valuable knowledge to facilitate the adoption of innovative surgical techniques, products, and advanced technologies.

“I’m proud to partner with Medacta’s M.O.R.E. Program to help new surgeons overcome the learning curve and excel with this system. Through the proctoring program, I’m able to share my passion and knowledge with surgeons from around the world,” says Dr. Matthew Saltzman, Northwestern Medical Group, one of the designers of the Medacta Shoulder System.

In addition to the educational achievement, Medacta is pleased to announce 15,000 Medacta Shoulder System devices implanted worldwide.

"When I started working on the Medacta Shoulder System with the other designers in 2014, I was certain that this shoulder replacement system could provide significant clinical benefits since it allows me to create a tailored and individualized plan based on each patient's unique anatomy. For the different shoulder pathologies, implant design and size range have been developed according to solid data from Medacta's MyBody database. I’m very proud to have participated in the development of this innovative shoulder replacement platform,” says Prof. Dr. med. Bernhard Jost.

The Medacta Shoulder System is a modular solution that features a broad range of options, from the stemless metaphysis to the long humeral diaphysis. It includes wide-ranging sizes, adjustable offsets, and innovative designs, both in the anatomic and reverse configurations. Moreover, with the addition of new options and the SensiTiN™️ implants, which are coated by a layer of titanium nitride, the Medacta Shoulder System offers a complete solution to manage many diverse patient needs, anatomies, and pathologies.

The Medacta Shoulder offering is enhanced by advanced enabling technologies. In addition to the CT-based MyShoulder 3D preoperative planning suite, with glenoid and humeral patient-specific guide solutions, Medacta recently released NextAR Shoulder, the first CE-marked, FDA-cleared and MHLW-approved Augmented Reality surgical application. NextAR Shoulder offers intraoperative glenoid guidance for reverse shoulder replacement and was designed with the help of worldwide expert orthopaedic surgeons to improve the efficiency and the accuracy of the procedure.

NextAR Shoulder is part of Medacta’s NextAR Augmented Reality Surgical Platform, which is offered as a hardware system with limited capital investment and single-use instrumentation at a low cost per case and offers the ability to host software for multiple applications. NextAR is a sustainable solution that embodies Medacta’s philosophy of healthcare sustainability, representing an optimal solution worldwide and particularly for U.S. Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs).

Both NextAR Shoulder and MyShoulder are part of our MySolutions Personalized Ecosystem, an advanced network of digital solutions designed to improve patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency. A personalized 3D planning tool, at the platform’s core, allows surgeons to design the optimal surgical strategy based on each patient’s unique anatomy and biomechanics, enhancing confidence and reproducibility.
